| Warmest Greetings, I am Silver (otherwise known as Pam Coghill) and it is wonderful to see you here. I was born and raised in the small town of Nenana, Alaska where I will forever reside; There is never any place as great as home. I live in a cozy log home with my very patient boyfriend and our three dogs. During the summer months I run the local Cultural Center museum and gift shop as well as work on my greenhouse. When the weather gets cold, as it does up here, I attend school at the University of Alaska Fairbanks studying to get my degree in Early Childhood Education, but beading is something I do all year around. I wasn't born a beader, it was just something that seemed to jump into my lap. Growing up in an Alaskan village, I was surrounded by the Elder women and their gorgeous beaded slippers and gloves. I first learned the basics of beaded embroidery when I was 10 years old, but didn't start serious beading until I was 16. Over the years I have learned many new stitches and different techniques. I took a beading break to work and attend school, and didn't return to serious beading until a few years ago. It took a lot of pushing from the local people to get me to take the jump into making my creations into a business, and pushing from my parents to create this wonderful website. I take my work beyond that which was taught to me by the Elders and no longer do any serious bead embroidery; most of my creations are in jewelry form, but I am always willing to custom create barrettes for anyone that would like one. My creation style varies and I never follow just one path. I try to create with everyone's tastes in mind, from young to old, and choose a variety of color you are sure to love. Bright Blessings and thanks for stopping in, Silver |
